My overall experience has been very positive. The activities carried out were diverse and useful to improve
my teaching methods. Despite an intensive schedule the time passed quickly because the lessons were
pleasant, dynamic and practical. We worked on several aspects such as: CLIL methodology and its
implementation, new digital educational resources, classroom vocabulary, English Education System,
My class-mates came from different European countries. We were all teachers of different subjects. Besides
the course itself, meeting other teachers was a rewarding experience since we had the chance to contrast
ideas, compare our education systems and, of course, share our free time.
Exeter, the place where the course took place, is a medium-sized city, stretching over somewhat steep hills
around the River Exe. It has a beautiful historical centre. The school is near a well-known lively area next to
the riverbank, which is full of pubs and shops.
Some daily life habits caught my attention. For example, I was able to observe that the British punctuality
and courtesy are not myths: people greet when getting on and off the bus and they use the word “please”
constantly. One more thing I realised is how people care about public spaces: there is no rubbish on the
I stayed at a hall of residence on the campus, which was a green area with pleasant pathways through
meadows, gardens and fountains. I was able to enjoy nice walks in the mild weather.
A programme with cultural activities was also planned for us. We went on one-day-trips to places of great
natural beauty such as the National Park of Dartmoor -very interesting from a geological point of view-, the
Cornwall coast and Exmoor National Park. In all these places I enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes:
